Red Seven Stag and Hen Weekends
Planning a decent stag night or hen night has been made much easier by the advent of the internet. This is good news because expectations have certainly gone up in recent years. Once upon a time, a visit to the local pub would have been plenty to see a chap into years of wedded bliss. Nowadays, more and more people are choosing to head overseas to celebrate the advent of a wedding. This has been made possible by the increase in operators offering 'off the shelf' packages and by airlines providing much cheaper flights around the world (particularly within Europe).
For example, anyone considering a Prague stag weekend or Prague hen weekend can probably find a deal from just over £100 if they know where to look. There are plenty of things to do in Prague. Quite apart from the fantastic selection of bars and nightclubs for which the city is famous, there is plenty of opportunity to enjoy the famous Czech food. The food of the Czech Republic complements an evening of lager drinking beautifully - goulash and dumplings line the stomach and soak up a huge amount of alcohol. Similarly, the beautiful residents of Prague are famously easy on the eye, an effect which is amplified by alcohol.
Another city famous for beautiful inhabitants is Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands. A typical Amsterdam stag weekend will involve a trip (no pun intended) to the city's famous coffeshops, a visit to any of the fantastic nightclubs to be found there and finally, for some visitors, a trawl through the red light district looking for a 'happy finish'. An Amsterdam hen weekend will probably not include the last part of this itinerary.
While the likelihood of anyone actually 'pulling' on a stag weekend is remarkably low (the odds are better for hen weekends), many men will choose a location famed for beautiful women. For this reason, the Tallinn stag weekend has become a staple for many delusional men. Actually, this is unfair. Tallinn is a fantastic city for many reasons. Not only is it reasonably small and not particularly 'touristy', but it is absolutely beautiful and a bargain for visitors.
At the more expensive end of things, a Madrid hen weekend is fantastic for the style-conscious. The Spanish capital has probably the most exciting nightlife in Europe and is a shopping Mecca. A Madrid stag weekend is more likely to gravitate towards the Bernabeu, home of Real Madrid CF, particularly if 'El Gran Classico' is on - this is the football match between bitter rivals Real and Barcelona and is often called 'the greatest game in football'. Of course, stags can catch the other leg at Camp Nou on a Barcelona stag weekend.
When booking a stag or hen weekend, it is important to consider budget. If you are the best man, you can book the greatest trip ever, but if the other stags can't afford to come, the night will be a let down. The best way to avoid this is to consult with everyone else who will be taking the trip with you.
